Signs of Spring at Hort and Pott

Hort and Pott has captured the modern cabin aesthetic and distilled all of its woodsy flavor into a little white barn in Oak Hill. The whole shop was recently refreshed to pay tribute to this chilly Catskill Mountain spring. A loosely whirled wreath of grapevines and moss hangs over the fireplace. Some fresh-cut wood topples from a woven bag on the floor. Terracotta pots of snowdrops sit upon a white-washed mantle. An animal pelt drapes over a handsome green leather armchair. Three brown eggs are cradled in a hand-spun straw nest on the side table.
And you don't have to worry about the eggs spoiling, because it's about as cold as a refrigerator up in here, honey! I struggled to take these pictures because my fingers felt frosty, but this ever-evolving little shop is so photogenic that it takes on a warm, welcoming glow in any weather.
On a rough-hewn shelf, sprightly wheat grass reaches out from a textural concrete planter.
Trays of violas sit patiently on the shop's new work counter, which stretches across the back of the shop. The long, rustic countertop is flooded with natural light and ideal for Hort and Pott's intimate 4-student workshops. I loved attending Todd Carr's wreathing workshop back in December, and seeing my own handmade wreath on my front door during the holidays was one of the highlights of my winter.
In the front of the shop, thick magnolia branches studded with deep pink buds promise that warm spring days are on the horizon.
