Laundry Room with a View

Laundry Room with a View

This is the view from our laundry room. It's insane. I have to wonder -- if we all dragged our washers and dryers out of our basements and placed them beside the prettiest windows in our homes, would doing laundry become a beloved pastime? It's debatable.

Our laundry room is just big enough for a washer and dryer, which is standard for our manufactured home (that's the modern terminology for a single-wide or double-wide trailer). The way these trailers are normally laid out, the laundry and dining rooms are located on the back of the house with doors that open to the backyard. But when Steve Baker from Moore's Homes sold us our double-wide, he suggested that we park it backwards. We took his advice and now have our dining and laundry room doors open up to the deck on the front of our place, which faces this beautiful view.

I worried that having the laundry room face the mountains would be a waste of a window, but as it turned out, this may be my favorite part of the house. With two little kids and a place that's sleeps 20, I'm doing a lot of laundry, and for the first time in my life, I almost find myself looking forward to the chore.
