Hey There, My Little Hot Chicken Biscuit!

Hey There, My Little Hot Chicken Biscuit!

Gracie's Luncheonette is now serving brunch and making the best hot chicken biscuit in the Hudson Valley from 10am to 4pm on Saturdays and Sundays. If you can pass up the hot chicken, then go for their full breakfast ($11), which includes 2 eggs any style and hash browns, plus your choice of bread (biscuit or cornbread) and meat (bacon or sausage). The hash browns taste like fried air, or perhaps they taste lighter than air -- more like fried joy. We don't have a picture because we ate them the second they landed on the table.

You can pair all the fried stuff with this salad, which is impossibly delicious. The greens are crisp-tender, the vinaigrette herbaceous and bright.

And here's Archer's grilled cheese, with Pete's fried chicken and waffles in the background -- along with a blue kids' thermos to remind you that I'm not a professional photographer!

Here's Ramona enjoying a perfect vanilla milkshake with a fruit cup.

We've never managed to save room for dessert, which is a crying shame because I saw their chocolate buttermilk cake on the counter and it looks like it just stepped out of a dream. And they've got brownie sundaes drizzled with chocolate caramel sauce. And donut ice cream sandwiches. Next time, guys, we're getting dessert first.
